June Meeting Minutes

Montrose Visual Arts Guild


June 28, 2010
General Meeting: at Meadow Lark Apartments, Montrose, Colorado. A quorum being present, President Pat Jeffers presided and called the meeting to order at 12:46 p.m following a pot luck luncheon.

Loretta Casler moved that the May 24, 2010, minutes from the general and board meetings and minutes from special board meeting on June 7, 2010, be approved as e-mailed or mailed to the members. Motion carried.

It was announced that the Western Colorado Watercolor Society annual show will be held at the Appleshed in Cedaredge in October. MVAG members are invited to enter water medium works in the nonjuried show.

It has been suggested that we have a committee to coordinate carrying MVAG members’ art to and from regional shows.

President Pat Jeffers wished a happy birthday to all who celebrated birthdays in the first half of the year.

President Pat Jeffers announced that an art instruction committee of herself, Nancy Shorter, Debra Bradley, Mary Hager, and Larry Sudduth will meet to recommend art videos for purchase by the guild.

Lael van Riper moved that we accept the quote through Philadelphia for global liability coverage beginning August 1. Motion was unanimously approved.

Twyla Groswold will present the July demonstration on smoke paintings. Each member should bring some paper of any kind to try the smoke painting.

Membership Chair Sharon Marolf will prepare a new membership list.

Workshops by Barbara Churchley on plein aire, September 18 and 19 through Around the Corner Art Gallery for $150, and by Ann Templeton November 10 - 12 were announced. President Pat Jeffers requested that Guild members with a spare bedroom which can be used by out of town artists during the Templeton workshop please volunteer.

President Pat Jeffers is trying to get Jeannie McKenzie as the judge for the Guild’s 2011 show. Members were reminded about the Around the Corner Art Guild show, Raining Cats and Dogs, beginning August 6.

The business meeting was adjourned at 1:22.
